Lucie Smoker’s crime fiction debut, Distortion, is now available in trade paperback and ebook. We know how thrilling it is for an author to get his/her first book published and we share in their excitement and awe. It’s a huge process to go from idea to reader, and of course the work just begins for Lucie as she promotes her book, goes to book signings and connects with readers. Please check out her book page for where to buy, to download her first chapter, see her event schedule, and listen to the songs she listened to while working on her novel.
Castle & Quill
Last weekend we celebrated stories at Castle Falls in a novel prep workshop we called Castle & Quill in Oklahoma City. Writers gathered to learn writing craft, hear how authors Tara Hudson, Malena Lott and Lucie Smoker put together their novels and got advice from senior editor Mari Farthing and an introduction to Kathy Wheeler who will be heading up our Honey romance line as acquisitions editor. Writers also worked on exercises in prepping their novel. We even asked our writers to sign a contract with themselves, committing to whatever time table and word count goals they felt comfortable with. Sometimes seeing it on paper and signing it, makes it feel more real to the writer who must work alone in those long months of first draft. Good luck to all of you joining NaNoWriMo in November to get 50K words of your draft written. Slideshow of our event below:
